Privacy Policy

The short version

We do not sell anything, we have no user accounts, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone. What we do have is standard web analytics, affiliate links that set cookies on the retailer's side, and a contact form that emails us what you type into it.

What we collect

Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. That involves cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device type, browser, referring site and the pages you visit. It is aggregate traffic measurement and we do not use it to identify individuals. What Google does with it is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form, the name, email address, topic and message you enter are sent to us by email so we can reply. They are not added to a mailing list and not shared with anyone. The form also uses the moment the page loaded and your IP address to block automated spam; neither is stored beyond the request.

Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs, including IP addresses, as part of running the service.

What we do not collect

• No accounts, so no passwords and no profiles.
• No payment information — we do not sell anything and never see a transaction.
• No newsletter list at present. If that changes, signing up will be explicit.
• No selling, renting or trading of any data to anybody, ever.

Affiliate links and cookies

Product links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one you pass through a redirect on this domain and then land on the retailer's site, which typically sets a cookie so a subsequent purchase is attributed to us.

That cookie is set by the retailer, under their privacy policy rather than ours. We are told only that a sale happened and what commission it earned — never who you are or what else you bought. The full affiliate disclosure is here.

Controlling this

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use a browser that blocks analytics by default, or install a tracker blocker. The site works normally with all of that in place — none of it is required to read anything here.

If you would rather not pass through our affiliate links at all, note the product name and search for it at the retailer directly. Nothing else about the site changes.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Given how little we hold, that is usually a short conversation. Write to contact@strandandsuds.com and we will respond.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will change and the change will be described here rather than made silently.
